18. Once the brakes have been applied, about how many feet does a car which was going 70 mph travel before it comes to a stop?

Answer:
It takes 233 feet for the car to stop from the moment the driver hit the breaks.

*The answer is not 387. The question states "Once the brakes have been applied ...." You don't need to add the feet traveled by the time it takes to think and process braking. (See page 8-1 for proof.)
